Caviar is best enjoyed alone, right of a spoon but can also be served with unsalted crackers, blini, or test points with a bit of crème-fraiche. It is recommended to be enjoyed in a small half-teaspoon portion and is classically served on a bed of ice with a Caviar spoon made of ceramic, glass, or mother-of-pearl. Non-metallic utensils should be avoided as they can tint the natural flavor of Caviar.

Malossol is a Russian word that literally translates to "little salt". When used to describe caviar, it refers to the idyllic salting process used to increase the shelf life of the highly perishable fish roe. Most caviar and roes, regardless of quality, are cured to the model of the malossol process.

A container of Non-pasteurized malossol caviar when unopened and properly refrigerated will last 3 weeks. Once the container is opened it will only last about 10 days.
